The Virginia Education Association proudly presents the 2017 Instruction and Professional Development Conference at the Richmond Marriott Hotel in Downtown Richmond, November 17-18, 2017. The theme of this year's conference is "Celebrate, Educate, Advocate!" Our keynote speaker is award-winning lecturer, activist and educator, Yewande Austin, Founder of the Global Institute for Diversity and Change.
Conference participants will gain awareness of community resources and will take away effective instructional strategies and practices needed to help all students achieve.
New this year, special conference pre-sessions will be offered by area museums and The Library of Virginia. A limited number of spots are open to all, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants will be able to choose one institution to learn more about its educator resources, programs and tour the facility (transportation is on your own).
After Friday night’s opening session, conferees are invited to enjoy the fellowship of colleagues at the first ever Friday Night Meet Up. Participating restaurants in Downtown Richmond will offer discounts and specials to IPD attendees. In the conference hotel, there will also be an exhibition hall with a variety of vendors and exhibitors.
Workshops will be presented by VEA members, Virginia Department of Education officials, college and university faculty, and community partners. Look over the list of presenters and presentations here.
VEA members pay a $75.00 registration fee which covers conference registration and materials, lodging for one night (double occupancy), and Saturday’s breakfast and lunch. The registration cost for VEA members who wish to commute is only $50. Non-members will be charged $150 (housing not included). SVEA members pay $45. A single room may be reserved for an additional $75. REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27th, or WHEN MAXIMUM CAPACITY IS REACHED. Register online today!
